The Clan Lamont Society was organized in Glasgow, on September 18, 1895. It is interesting to note that two of the founding Vice Presidents were Col. Daniel Scott Lamont, USA, and Mrs. Margaret Lamont Campbell. In 1906, the Society erected the Lamont Memorial in Dunoon, honoring the memory of the 1646 massacre at Dunoon. In 1930, work was begun on the "The Lamont Clan, 1235-1935", the outstanding Clan history book based on the papers of Sir Norman Lamont of Knockdow. Four fifths of the cost of publication was underwritten by Harry A. Black of Texas, and Thomas W. Lamont of New York. In 1987, the society obtained ownership of "The Manse" at Inverchaolain. This is of special interest, as not only are special Clan Lamont items for sale there, but a limited amount of lodging is also available. For information, contact:

The Clan Lamont Society of Australia was founded in 1983, and is fortunate in having our current Chief, Father Peter Noel Lamont of that Ilk, living in Australia. Father Lamont has appointed Jack Lamont, the Past President, and founder of the Society, as Lieutenant to the Chief.. The current President's address is:

The Clan Lamont Society of Canada was founded in 1986 by Mrs. Jean L. Watson. In 1989, the Chief appointed Jean Canadian Commissioner to the Chief. The Society is quite active, particularly in Nova Scotia, and is known for hosting Clan Lamont gatherings.
